London has some of the most historic, elegant and outstanding architectural pieces in the world. It is a city that is celebrated for preserving history in its buildings and keeping modern builds authentic as well as maintaining the cities’ traditional feel.
London is often thought of as the capital of Europe, encapsulating a variety of cultures, religions and styles in one place. If you want to go to a cinema only showing French films at 1am, you can. If you want a go to an authentic Spanish restaurant for Tapas, you can, and if you just want a bacon butty for breakfast you most definitely can. It’s the reason why tourists flock to London in their millions every single year. There are festivals, markets, attractions and festivities on continuously throughout the year so you’ll never be short of things to do in London.
To experience London the way it was intended we wouldn’t recommend staying in a budget hotel. Instead stay somewhere authentically British, so that you feel like you’re on holiday, even when you switch the light off to go to sleep. London was one of the first places to experiment with the idea of luxury accommodation, charging more money the more luxurious you accommodation got. This included everything from having your own personal butler, to the quality of your bedsheets, to the selection of teas available on your night stand. That is what these beautifully build Victorian buildings were intended for, to show that they offered the most luxurious accommodation in the city. Thankfully, this doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg nowadays. There are often competitions online on websites such as All In London and Time Out London.
In fact All in London today launched a competition for a night’s stay for two at a luxury hotel in London. The gorgeous Charing Cross Hotel is a refurbished railway hotel in a stunning Victorian building. Railway hotels used to be the topdog of luxury, they were the first building you saw when you stepped off the train so were usually built beautifully. If you’re not convinced already, read how they describe the hotel:
The hotel has all its authentic period features preserved, giving it a timeless elegance and grandeur that will delight guests to London.
It is perfectly placed near Trafalgar Square where you can shop at world famous shops and dine in some of the best restaurants in the world and of course, being a railway hotel, it is situated next to one of the main train stations in London. Trafalgar Square is known as the heart of London and is probably the most vibrant area of the city. Don’t forget to check out Nelson’s Column in the centre of the Square and you are likely to see live performers and events taking place there too. It’s also a great area to decide what you want to do with your visit, it is the centre of the city and the transport to and from the Square is constant. Sounds perfect right? The competition is so easy as well, just answer a simple question and you’re in!
London is a multicultural hub and it can be an expensive place to visit, but if you’re careful you can have a luxurious trip where you feel like you’ve missed nothing out for as little as, well nothing.
