So after months of waiting and waiting, I finally made it to Rhodes. And can I just say – it did not disappoint!
You know that life can’t be too shabby when you wake up to a view like this:
That postcard perfect town up there is Lindos, which was our base for the week. There were two lovely beaches, plenty of restaurants and a stunning acropolis which we waited to savour until the very last day.
If it’s a lazy beach holiday you’re after, then I would thoroughly recommend it.
However, while Lindos was lovely, we took advantage of the regular bus service that went into Rhodes Town quite a few times, because there was so much more to see and do.
The place was dripping with history, you could barely take two steps without bumping to some beautiful ancient Greek artifact. We visited the Palace of the Kings and the Archeological museum, which had lots of gorgeous statues and mosaics. Afterwards, we wandered through the crooked streets of the Old Town, which is a gorgeous ancient Greek artifact itself.
When we were finally able to drag ourselves away from the the Old Town, we wandered around various shops and eateries in the New Town, and ate far more ice cream and crepes than a lady of my stature should care to admit.
Oh yeah, and there were cats, lots of cats.
All in all, Rhodes was an amazing experience and I left the island thirsty for more. However, I know that there are plenty more places to be explored – so don’t worry, I’ve already started putting in the reseach for our next trip!
Onwards to the next adventure!
